How It works

Where Can I Buy Collectibles and Tools Near Muskegon?

Right here at Genie’s Outlet.
Our inventory includes everything from vintage hand tools and guitars to electronics, knives, and estate collectibles. Each item that comes through our door is inspected, cleaned, and tested before it hits the shelf.

Typical items you might find include:

  • Vintage and modern knives and multi-tools
  • Hand and power tools from trusted brands
  • Estate treasures: clocks, décor, coins, and antiques

Customers visit us from as far as Grand Haven and Whitehall because they know what makes Genie’s Outlet different — the items here are genuine, fairly priced, and often one-of-a-kind.

Do You Buy or Consign Collectibles and Tools?

Yes. We buy, trade, and consign items every day.
If you’ve got collectibles or tools you’re ready to part with — whether you’re downsizing, cleaning out a garage, or settling an estate — we’ll make the process simple and transparent.

Here’s how it works:

  • Bring your items in for a quick review.
  • We’ll evaluate based on condition, demand, and resale potential.
  • You choose: sell outright for cash or consign for resale.
  • We handle all display, marketing, and sales management.

Consignment is a great option for higher-value or niche items, while direct sales are perfect if you want a quick payout. Either way, you’ll get fair numbers, no hidden fees, no fine print.

We’ve helped locals from Fruitport to Spring Lake turn collections into cash or simply make space while keeping their items in the hands of people who appreciate them.

What Kind of Collectibles Does Genie’s Outlet Carry?

Our selection changes constantly — that’s part of the fun. But here’s a snapshot of what you’ll often find:

Knives & Tools: From pocketknives and hunting blades to premium shop tools, we carry practical gear that holds up, not cheap imports that fail after a season.

Electronics & Audio Gear: Vintage receivers, speakers, and recording equipment tested in-store before resale.

Estate Finds & Antiques: Decorative pieces, clocks, military memorabilia, coins, and other vintage items sourced from local estates.

Everything that hits our shelves is cleaned, verified, and priced for value — not hype.

When you visit from Grand Haven or Norton Shores, you’ll never see the same store twice. That’s why locals stop by regularly just to see what’s new.

Can I Bring in Items for Appraisal?

Absolutely. If you’re unsure what something is worth — or even what it is — we’ll take a look and explain everything clearly.

Appraisals are free, quick, and honest. We’ll tell you what’s selling, what’s collectible, and what might need a niche buyer.
If you decide to sell or consign, we’ll make sure you understand your options upfront.

Our team’s background in estate sales and resale valuation helps us identify real worth where others might not. That’s especially helpful for families sorting through inherited collections or garage fulls of mixed items.

Do You Offer Appraisals for Estate Collections?

Yes. Many people bring in coins or precious metals they’ve inherited and don’t know how to value.
We handle estate appraisals discreetly and respectfully.

We understand that selling family collections can feel personal. That’s why we always start with conversation, not assumptions.
Our team can help you decide whether to:

  • Sell outright
  • We offer coin grading through NGS and PCGS
  • Hold specific pieces as long-term investments

Do You Handle Estate Collections?

We regularly help families and estate executors evaluate everything from tools and collectibles to coins and firearms

If you’ve got boxes or storage units filled with unknown items, we can help you:

  • Identify what’s valuable
  • Appraise for resale
  • Sell or consign through the shop
  • Handle any firearm-related compliance through our FFL license

We understand that estate work can feel overwhelming — that’s why our approach is patient, respectful, and completely transparent.

How Is Genie’s Outlet Different From a Pawn Shop?

Simple — we don’t play games.
We don’t overpromise, underpay, or pressure you to sell. Everything we do is guided by honesty and community trust.

At Genie’s Outlet:

  • You’ll see how pricing is determined
  • You’ll get fair offers and clear consignment terms
  • You’ll talk to locals, not a faceless chain
  • We actually care about the items we sell — and the people we buy from

Customers from Whitehall to Grand Haven tell us they come here because it feels more like a neighborhood exchange than a transaction. That’s exactly how we want it.

What Are Some of the Most Popular Finds?

Every week brings surprises, but our regulars love finding: Vintage axes and woodworking tools
  • Estate knives and hunting gear
  • Vintage radios, clocks, and collectibles
  • Oddities — the items that make you stop and say, “Where did they find that?”
We post updates and photos regularly on our social channels, but nothing beats stopping in — the real treasure is often on the shelf for a single day.

Is Genie’s Outlet a Pawn Shop?

Yes, but not in the way most people think.

We buy, sell, and trade items just like a traditional pawn shop in Muskegon, but the difference is how we do business. At Genie’s Outlet, you won’t find high-pressure tactics, confusing fees, or one-sided deals. You’ll find clear offers, same-day payouts, and honest people who take pride in doing things the right way.

Most of our customers come to us because they’ve tried other pawn shops in Muskegon, Grand Haven, and Norton Shores and walked away frustrated. They tell us Genie’s feels different, friendlier, cleaner, and more transparent. That’s exactly the goal.

When you bring in items, you can expect:

  • Straightforward appraisals with full explanations
  • Fair cash offers based on real market demand
  • No hidden fees or games — just a handshake and clear terms
  • Consignment options if you want to earn more through resale

We buy and trade tools,  knives, coins, collectibles, electronics, and estate goods every day, but what really sets us apart is how we treat people.

You won’t get lost in paperwork or rushed out the door. You’ll talk to locals who live right here in Muskegon County and care about long-term relationships, not one-off sales.

So yes, we’re a pawn shop, but we’re also something better: a community shop that brings fairness and trust back to an old trade.

The Story Behind Genie’s Outlet

Every great small business starts with a story, ours goes back generations.

Owner Jim Mauseth learned the resale trade working with his grandmother, Gene (“Genie”) Mauseth, who ran one of Muskegon’s most respected estate-sale companies. From her, he learned how to appraise value accurately and treat people with fairness and respect.

His wife, Veronica, a long-time Muskegon Post Office employee, brings that same community-minded care into the shop. Locals know her face and trust her word, because she’s been part of this community her whole life.

Together, Jim, Veronica, Josh and Brittany built Genie’s Outlet around timeless principles: fair prices, honesty, and human connection. That’s why people across Muskegon County and the Lakeshore keep coming back — they know who they’re dealing with and what kind of shop this is.
